Plein air “hike”

Well, I packed up all my plein air gear for the first time, (literally, I packed my backpack!) and took a long hike to the patio. Just had to get outside and try my hand at plein air painting. Good practice for dialing in what I may need for a much longer hike. 🙂 I really enjoyed it! I knew I would.
Anyway, some marigolds for my first trek. I didn’t finish it. Although I may take the hike again tomorrow night, or finish it up in the studio. Either way, I haven’t painted since April so it’s good to get the brushes back into my hands again. After all, I still have a piece to finish… right Nick and Jayla?

More portrait work.

This one is approx. 8×10, oil on canvas board. Not sure why I continue to work so small. It does force me to think about each brush stroke though. So, learning even more with each one.

Again, thanks for visiting my blog.

I put down the shovel today for a bit of studio time. Lots of yard work this summer.

It’s been since July that I had this opportunity. Was a day to simply relax and work my way back into the creative side. Working very small on this one, for me. Quite the challenge since I like to lay it on thick. 5×7, Oil on Ampersand panel.  Again, just great to have a brush in my hand today.
